Coaching

I started climbing in 2007 and have been coaching since 2009 and I hold the Single Pitch Award (SPA). Over the years I have tried various training methods and techniques to improve my personal climbing. I firmly believe that anyone can push their climbing grade if they focus on the right things and, more importantly, every climber can improve their technique - whatever their level. My own climbing and training experiences, combined with the knowledge gained from my BSc(Hons), enables me to coach climbers effectively. After an initial observation, I will tailor sessions to meet the needs of each individual. Based on your short and longer term goals, I can also design a training plan that will help you achieve these targets whilst keeping you focused and motivated.

  • Movement Techniques (e.g. footwork)
  • Training (e.g. endurance, power, strength)
  • Tactics (e.g. route reading, resting)
  • Mental Toughness (e.g. fear of falling, visualisation, motivation)
  • Cool down

Venue and Gear
Regular sessions will be based at the EICA or Alien Rock, depending on availability and the aims of the session. All participants are assumed to be regular (weekly) climbers and should bring along their harness, rock shoes, belay device and chalk.
